In order to improve my flat plan ideas I studied the level 4 criteria and then got into small groups to present out flat plans and discuss them. When presenting mine there was a few things i already knew i wanted to change and add into my magazine. In addition to my own thoughts i asked other members of the group if they agreed and there thoughts on the matter. My original thought was to have a medium close up image instead of a full length shot which my previous flat plan included. My peers also agreed and we concluded it would take up more space on the cover and leave less white space which would improve the general appearance. To ensure it is obvious which is my main sell line i need to have a variety of font sizes, which although i already had, my main one could be larger. I am going to make sure the size of the different sell lines are different sizes in order of importance. I am also going to include another feature on my front cover possibly in a circle or a highlighted box to make it stand out to the rest, however, this does not have to be overly large. Next to my bar code i have the date and issue number which i am also going to add a price too.On the contents page i am going top include a subscription at the bottom and therefore maybe adjust the layout slightly to move the HMV promotion to the top of the page which will get rid of the white space and then the subscription can go to the bottom. On the listed bit of the contents i am going to include sub headings to make it easy for the audience to allocate the page they want. Down the side of the contents i will add in a band index including all the bands and artists who will be in this issue of the magazine.
The feedback also provided me with positive features of my magazine which are essential to keep. I will defiantly be keeping the colours and house style of the magazine which continue throughout the magazine-shades of black and white, and red being the main colour to make things stand out and draw in attention. The font of my mast head is going to stay the same and at approximate the same size, the positioning will not change either, it will remain central at the top of the page. My front cover includes all the main features including mast head, skyline, main article, main image, sell lines, bar codes and dates etc. The material used is all appropriate to the audience and age however the model positioning will be changing to create more of a music theme. The feedback told me my layouts where all very good, particularly on my contents page, everything is clearly set out and also includes a variety of different images and camera shots to give me the opportunity to develop my camera work skills. All my images link well with the text and are appropriate to the genre and audience i am aiming the magazine at.
This feedback reassured me about my good ideas but has also helped me develop ideas on the weaker parts which i can now improve. I found it a good exercise as i can now make the appropriate changes to my magazine from ideas of my own i had, ideas which peers have given me and ideas to improve things i had done.
